[YAKIMA, WA] —Civil Survival will be hosting a social justice and advocacy workshop this Saturday, July 29th from 9:30am-4:30pm in Yakima. This is their first event ever in Central Washington.
The all-day workshop will be led by formerly incarcerated individuals who will be teaching social justice advocacy to individuals who have been impacted by the criminal legal system. The workshop includes discussing the barriers impacted community members go through upon release, the importance of organizing, learning how a bill becomes a law, how to have your voice heard, and more. A light breakfast, beverages and lunch will be provided for participants during the workshop.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to meet and chat with local elected officials who are scheduled to join us in the afternoon.
The workshop will take place at the Yakima County Democrats’ office, located at 402 South 3rd Street in Yakima. Individuals interested in attending can register at civilsurvival.org/events/yakima. Though the event is free, registration is highly encouraged.
