At Civil Survival we know that real justice doesn’t happen with a court decision, it starts when people get the support they need to rebuild their lives. That’s why our legal team continues to lead the way by helping thousands of Washingtonians with life-changing services that offer a pathway to healing and progress.

During the second quarter of 2025 our legal team made some powerful strides through their Blake work including:

  • Delivering transformative relief for our clients and their families in 335 Blake-related cases, securing $8,103 in refunds and eliminating over $192k in LFO debt
  • Reaching more community members with unconstitutional drug possession convictions through our recently launched Blake Community Hub
  • Helping individuals access pro se relief and identifying those who need deeper legal assistance through our Attorney Office Hours
  • Growing our impact in-person and virtually through meaningful community connections at resource fairs, during Game Changer meetings, and in planning our first Mass Assistance Day in Spokane County

Meanwhile through our Reentry Legal Aid Project (RLAP), our team continued providing holistic support and people-centered representation with key accomplishments including:

  • Empowering community through direct legal aid in 528 cases, helping eliminate $14.8 million in LFO debt and vacating 74 convictions in just one quarter
  • Amplifying the voices of impacted community members by leading Amicus Brief efforts with a coalition of organizations on two cases before the Washington Supreme Court
  • Expanding our our Reentry Resource Program to meet people where they are by combining legal assistance with support services they need to move forward
  • Helping community with the first steps in their reentry journey by providing 55 criminal history reports at no cost
  • Investing in the next generation of legal advocates by welcoming three new interns into our 2025 Summer Intern Program who are helping further our impact
