In partnership with Olympic College, Saturday, October 19th, we (the Civil Survival Project) held one of our Reentry Advocacy Workshops in Bremerton. A room of formerly incarcerated people, allies and three elected officials made space to talk and unpack how barriers affect us and our families for as long as we hold this label of “felon”. For the elected officials, it was an opportunity to learn how some laws can and do act as barriers to reentry back into our communities for years after incarceration and will not stop until our records are cleared through record vacation. The day was powerful, many tears fell as we showed love and support to our community.
