Meet Our Team
It’s the season of giving thanks and Civil Survival is very excited to spotlight our very own staff for the months of November & December! Not only would we like to show our gratitude for their dedication but also share with our communities the faces of those responsible for the life-changing work we do. Our work is not possible without our passionate team. They work hard every day to support our formerly incarcerated families & individuals and thanks to them, we are one step closer to a world free from mass incarceration.
Today we are highlighting Julie (she/her), our Operations Manager and a proud mother of two. Since joining Civil Survival in 2020, Julie has been the mastermind behind keeping us organized and on top of our game—and somehow finds time to plan fabulous events and birthday gifts for all of our staff!

What drew you to working with CSP?
I’ve always been drawn to doing work that supports people. I was grateful when I saw the posting for my position. It is the perfect combination of my skills and work that serves the community. I also have a personal connection to Civil Survival Project’s mission. I have family members who are directly impacted, and family members who have received support from Civil Survival Project which makes doing this work even more meaningful to me.
What event or impactful change are you the most proud of during your time working with Civil Survival? Or, what part of Civil Survival Project’s work resonates the most with you?
I am proud of all of the work that Civil Survival Project does. For me personally, I love working with clients directly and hearing about how our work changed a person’s life for the better. Our legal service work does that for people every day. Our advocacy work changes the lives of people across the state, and I love to see our work removing barriers for people on that large scale.
What’s something you’re looking forward to in the future of CSP?
I’m so impressed with our small but mighty team and all of the amazing accomplishments we have made this past year. One of those accomplishments includes recruiting the best and brightest and I’m so excited to see how many people we can support through our legal services this year and what our policy and advocacy team can accomplish in partnership with the community this year as well!
What’s something you’re grateful for within the last year?
I’m grateful my husband and our two sweet kiddos. We have accomplished so much together this year including getting married and buying a home. I’m grateful for them every day, all the time. I’m also so grateful to be a part of the CSP team!
