Civil Survival Executive Director Tarra Simmons recently received the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Champion of Justice Award. The Award “recognizes an individual who — through legislative, judicial, journalistic or humanitarian pursuits — defended constitutional rights and endeavored to ensure justice and due process for those accused of crime.”

Ms. Simmons devotes countless hours to promoting the interests of justice-involved individuals through her work as a Skadden Fellow at the Public Defender’s Office, co-chair of the Statewide Reentry Council, Executive Director of The Civil Survival Project and many other activities. We applaud her achievements and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition.
